The Katherine Mansfield Society Inaugural Birthday Lecture
The Katherine Mansfield Society Inaugural Birthday Lecture was held in central London at New Zealand House on Friday 15 October 2010, generously supported by the New Zealand High Commission and the NZ Society UK. The Penthouse - on the top floor of New Zealand House - commands the best 360 degree views across London after the London Eye!
The lecture was given by Emeritus Professor Angela Smith: ‘Mansfield and Dickens: “I am not reading Dickens idly”’ and was followed by drinks and birthday cup cakes! Around 120 people attended the event, including the Patron of the Society, Dame Jacqueline Wilson, Belinda Brown, Deputy High Commissioner for New Zealand to the United Kingdom, John Greager, Vice-President of the New Zealand Society, and Stephen Barkway, President of the Virginia Woolf Society. Photos of the event are posted below. We could not put names to all the faces on the photos - if we have omitted to name you, please email us and we will be glad to add you! kms@katherinemansfieldsociety.org
We raised c. £700 for the Society. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed, both near and far!
