Travelling to Menton, France

Darling Bogey,

What shall I tell you first? I have thought of you often & wondered if the beau temps est chez vous aussi,[Trans. from French: if you are also having good weather.] now that Ive gone away. We had a good journey but a slight contretemps in Paris. Ida [Ida Baker, KM's faithful friend and companion.] disappeared with the porter to find a taxi, and she forgot the door she'd gone out - rushed off to another & lost me. After about ½ an hour I appealed to the police but they were helpless. The poor creature lost her head & when we did meet finally it was only because I saw her in the distance & simply shouted. This tired me & made my nose bleed and I had a v. bad night & had to do my review in bed next day, being fanned & bathed with eau de cologne. Its of no importance to me but I felt all the time I was betraying you and the paper. Forgive me once again. [Letter to J. M. Murry in Collected Letters, 14 September 1920]
